#culturesnippets #Japan The postwar success of the Japanese economy and how it recovered from natural disasters quickly is an impressive achievement. Protecting harmony is deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Many factors contributed to that.

Surrounded by oceans and a range of mountains, working together in harmony proved the best way to live productively. There is very little personal space available in the small islands, cooperating and respecting others makes life flow smoothly for everyone.

The country and family are considered more important than self, which stems from the Confucius teachings and Shinto religious beliefs. As a result, 'abide by the rules' (e.g. paying attention to social codes, etiquette and manners) strives.

The concept of long-term orientation means the culture of respecting tradition and ancestors is strong. Japanese companies emphasise on sustainability - moving the business onto their descendants. Long-standing entities (more than 100 years old) known as ‘shinise’ means ‘old shop’.

Japanese businesses value high-level customer service, #omotenashi - wholeheartedly look after guests. It goes beyond 'customers are always right'. It's genuine kindness towards guests, a sharp eye for detail, awareness for individual needs and always go the extra mile to ensure a great experience for guests.
